May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!
A Story of a Fish
Matthew 17:27 KJV – Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
When it came to answering the call we had to let our family, friends, coworkers, and many others know the news that we would be leaving and moving out of state. Moving just under 3,000 miles away. When informing people of this life changing transition, as you can imagine we received many different responses, questions and inquiries.
This is a story how God proved himself true and strong despite how everything looked in the natural. One famous comment that we received was “You know money doesn’t just fall out of the sky.” and “How are you going to save enough money to afford a move like this?” Well I can tell you before ever hearing any of these words from other people I knew that God called us. Period. I also knew that he would make the way. If there was something that he wanted us to do then he would make the way for us to do it. I never though twice about it. In the midst of hearing these comments I could hear God clearly speaking and repeatedly He was saying “What about the fishes mouth?” “What about the fishes mouth?” God in the midst of everything He was not only encouraging me but He was letting me know that He had everything already worked out. He was reassuring me that everything that we had need of was already taken care of. He was going to supernaturally supply every one of our needs through His riches and glory. I never doubted Him, nor did I doubt that He would accomplish all He set us forth to do. He loves me so much He just wanted to encourage and reassure through that statement.
It doesn’t stop there either. As a family we went to visit an old friend when telling her about what God called us to do, and where we were to go she proceeded to tell us a story. She was listening to the radio and this man of God had traveled to a dangerous area in South America. This man of God was trying to catch his plane. While he was on the runway trying to hurry and catch his plane a local man started following him trying to get his attention. The man of God, thinking that his life could be in danger, started running. The local man started yelling at this man of God. He was calling him by name and asking him to wait. When the local man caught up with the man of God he said God told me to give this to you. He started stuffing wads of money into every area he could, all through his clothes and in his bag. When the man of God finally got on his plane God spoke to him and said something along the lines I can get you money wherever you are. The specific amount I cannot remember but it was a substantial amount, those wads of money were all wads of 100 dollar bills. Our Friend had no idea what we were getting told and the comments we were hearing. Yet God used her to tell us this story and yet again encourage us. She said “I don’t know why I felt compelled to tell you that story today…” So I told her The Story of the Fish… “What about the fishes mouth?’
As time passed I was discussing what God spoke to me about the fishes mouth and the story of that man of God with several different friends. Some time later as the time I had at my job was coming to a close and we all had to say our goodbyes I was once again reminded of Gods love and His mercy and encouraging power. On my last night I received several gifts from my phenomenal co-workers. There was one that really stood out. One that meant the most to me. A dear and precious friend had remembered the story I had told her… A Story of the Fish.
And so this is, A Story of a Fish
