May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!
What is holiness?
Webster’s definition best suites the context I am discussing, but is very vague. It says, “devoted entirely to the deity or to the work of the deity.” Though this definition does not exactly do the holiness of God(when in men) justice, keep this definition in mind while reading this article. Some synonyms of holiness that are used in the bible are; sanctified, set apart, blameless, spotless, complete, perfect. To be “totally devoted” to God you must be separated and cut off from the world. The world is; the flesh, fallen man, the demonic powers and agenda, and ultimately, sin. Leonard Ravenhill said “to be part of the bride(of Christ) you have to be divorced from everything in the world.” Again, if anyone is to be devoted totally to God, they have to be separated from the world. The bible says, quoting the Lord I might add, “be ye separate.” The bible is full of scriptures identifying the difference between God’s holiness and the world. Once you are a part of God and His holiness you are cut off from sin(the world). Sin has no part in you any longer, you no longer desire sin(the world). Holiness has many facets to it, but without complicating it anymore, it is separation from the fallen man, the sinful man. Now we are God filled men(and women). God has called us to be separated from sin and no longer separate from Him by it(sin).
Leviticus 20:26 (GNV)
Therefore shall ye be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and I have separated you from other people that ye should be mine.
